Biography
Chandra Dew’s life starts abroad. I was born in Huntingdonshire, Molesworth, England. My father was in the Air Force at that time and my mother was a housewife. I am the third eldest of ten children, whom I love and adore. Instinctively, I took on the role of helping my mother with my younger siblings. I believe that was the beginning of my deep compassion for helping others. As a child I enjoyed drawing and oddly enough, many of my drawings were inspired by illustrations from the Bible. Around the age of 19, I began reading the Bible on my own but with little comprehension of its meaning. A few years later, at the age of 23, I got married and had two beautiful daughters. Unfortunately, after 12 years, the marriage ended in divorce and I was despaired and depressed. However, such an experience led me on a quest to find out if God truly exists. Seeking God with all my heart, I “church-hopped” looking for answers. It was then when I realized that different churches have different beliefs and standards. Feeling confused and a little disappointed, I felt the need to get an understanding of the Bible for myself. So I began to ask people to sit down with me and teach me from the Bible. About a year later, I was unexpectedly approached by two women while out for a walk.
They introduced themselves and asked if I would like to study the Bible. Through understanding the Word of God, I then realized that I had to make Jesus Lord of my life. Consequently, drastic changes occurred once I started putting the scriptures into practice, followed by a deep seeded gratefulness to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was then, at the age of 35 that I began my journey as a Christian. That is also when my desire to counsel others really surfaced and therefore I chose to spiritually nurture a group of single moms in the church I attended. Now I am 56 years old, happily married and I have found that the most important difference from our previous marriages is making and keeping Christ as the center of our relationship. Eventually both our passion for helping people led us into leading the singles ministry and offering pre-marital and marriage counseling as well. My husband and I have five children all together, two from my previous marriage and three from his. Also I am very excited to have added a son-in-law and beautiful granddaughter (the delight of my eyes) to our family.
Within the past few years, God has also blessed me with the opportunity to travel. This is another joy and love of mine. My love for traveling has grown and I have been blessed to continue to do so. It is very fascinating to see other cultures in their setting. So far the countries that I have had the opportunity to visit are England, Germany, Austria, Dominican Republic and my favorite, Italy. My most recent adventure was in the good ole state of Oregon. There I was able to visit one of God’s most beautiful creations, “The Painted Hills.”
I believe with all my heart that God directed me into the field of counseling so I can have my hearts desire… to help those who are hurting.
God bless,
Chandra
